Why the Conversation Around EMF Exposure Is Changing

A Shift Toward Serious Inquiry Into EMF Exposure

Over the past several weeks, an important shift has been underway in how electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure is discussed, particularly across elite performance, public health, and long-term wellness.

The conversation gained momentum when reports surfaced that the San Francisco 49ers were exploring EMF exposure as a potential factor in player health, injuries, and recovery. Whether or not one agrees with the underlying hypothesis is beside the point. What matters is who is asking the question. When organizations operating at the highest levels of performance begin examining environmental variables, the topic has clearly moved into the realm of legitimate inquiry.

Shortly thereafter, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced a new federal study focused on cellphone radiation and potential health impacts. This announcement does not imply conclusions or establish causation. Instead, it reflects a growing recognition that modern technologies, biological systems, and long-term health outcomes deserve renewed, rigorous examination.

Federal Health Leaders Signal Renewed Scientific Examination

Shortly thereafter, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced a new federal study focused on cellphone radiation and potential health impacts. This announcement does not imply conclusions or establish causation. Instead, it reflects a growing recognition that modern technologies, biological systems, and long-term health outcomes deserve renewed, rigorous examination.

That perspective aligns with the broader direction now emerging from HHS leadership under Robert F. Kennedy Jr. A central theme of this administration has been a willingness to “peel back the onion” on foundational health questions from food preservatives and chemical exposure to environmental inputs that may influence chronic health outcomes over time. Whether examining nutrition, toxins, or wireless exposure, the through-line is a renewed emphasis on transparency, inquiry, and preventative health.

Science evolves. Technology evolves even faster. Our understanding must keep pace.

At TRU47®, we view this moment not as one of alarm, but of responsibility. For decades, society has adopted new technologies at an extraordinary speed, often faster than long-term research can reasonably keep up. That does not automatically indicate harm, but it does justify thoughtful study, informed awareness, and proactive wellness strategies.

Elite athletes provide a useful lens. Their bodies are finely tuned systems in which marginal environmental factors can influence recovery, sleep quality, inflammation, and performance. When professional teams begin examining EMF exposure, they are not making declarations; they are doing what high-performance organizations do best: asking better questions.

As Chairman of TRU47®, I believe the role of responsible wellness companies is not to assert certainty where none exists, but to operate at the intersection of science, awareness, and practical solutions. We support disciplined research, evidence-based dialogue, and individual choice grounded in information — not fear.

The recent actions by HHS reinforce a simple truth: progress begins with inquiry. Whether in professional sports, public health, or everyday life, asking better questions — and following the science — benefits everyone.

This is a conversation worth having. Carefully. Credibly. And with integrity.
